Colophon
Hello people, I’m Matt Witmer and welcome to my internet home.
I am a 17 year old who lives in a suburb roughly 45 minutes west of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Currently, I am entering my freshmen year at Cabrini College in gorgeous Radnor, Pennsylvania, where I plan on majoring in Graphic Design. Aside from academia, I am passionate in photography, new media, and Apple products.
Web History
I have been “producing” websites since at least mid-2003 when I had a “web design” company known as Netscapers. Since then, I have let the domain registration fall through and have left the web design arena as it is no longer as simple as it was in 2003.
A couple years after starting Netscapers, I began working at a local McDonalds where I became good friends with one my co-workers, Tim Drobniak. Tim, like me, was a big fan of the internet and the two of us decided to start a podcast on what it was like to work at McDonalds. The remnants of this venture are still visible on google video.
After the Netscapers venture, I attempted to run a “vLog” multiple times with very little success. It took way too much time and yielded very low viewership.
Now
Enough about my history. Right now you are reading a Wordpress blog hosted on a fabulous Dreamhost server.
Desktop
My blog posts always come from my incredibly messy but functional desktop.
I write from my Macbook which I have connected to my 23″ Vizio as a second display, something I think vastly increases productivity. Also on my desktop lives my iPhone 3G which spends more time in my pocket and my constant connection to the interwebs, my Chumby.
As a graduation present, I was given an Amazon Kindle and have found myself reading the Philadelphia Inquirer nearly every morning something I would have never done previously. Recently I have also gotten hooked upon comics (Watchmen and Batman FTW).
Photography
Because I am heading off to college very soon, I bought myself a Nikon D80 as I would like to photograph Cabrini’s sporting events and because I bought a 70-200mm f/2.8 a few months before for my parents DSLR. The Pelican case, which houses my photo gear, is incredibly empty at the moment with only a 50mm f/1.8 accompanying the 70-200mm. Hopefully in the coming year I will have the cash to finance a new lens purchase, preferably a 14-24mm. When out and about, my photo gear is carried about in a deliciously hacked Timbuk2 messenger bag.
